My Love Affair with Fractals

I've always been an art freak for as long as I can remember. Any form of self expression can be considered art. Pretty things could be art. Life itself could be one big work of art. I have many talents. I'm a writer. I am a part time photographer. The other part of the time, I'm hacking, coloring, blurring, and inverting the hell out of the pictures I take. I used to paint abstracts with oil pastels. I sing and can poorly play a couple of instruments. I've always been the type of person that felt the need to "emote" in some form. I have a therapist, but all we do is yak about my psychological state. Some of the people close to me don't understand my obsession, and it truly is an obsession.

One day last year, I was doing what I seem to do a lot, and just looking for random crap on the net. I think up a subject, google it, and then pore over the results until my eyes go cross eyed or I think of something else to look up. I've learned a lot of useless thing by doing this. Well, on this particular day/night one of my friends sent me a picture. I thought it was the most unusual, yet beautiful thing I had ever seen. I had seen things similar to that before but not on that scale. I asked her what it was. She told me it was a fractal. And thus jumpstarted my love affair. I googled fractals, and was presented with many, many beautiful pictures. I decided one day I wanted to learn how to make them myself. So, I actually researched them instead of just looking at them. I was intimidated when I found out there were complex mathematical equations that went into the making of fractals. I am mathematically inept. But I was determined. I downloaded a program that I don't remember the name of and installed it on my computer. I opened it and sat there scratching my head for a minute or two. I had no idea what to do next. It just seemed way too complicated to me, so I got rid of it. And that was the end of that.

Fast forward a few months to a new computer, and lots more free time since school's out for the semester. I was nosing around in the forum for the Paint Dot Net program. I came across a thread about fractals which piqued my intrest in making them again. They were talking about Apophysis and Chaoscope, and how they didn't require extensive knowledge of algebraic equations. I immediately downloaded them both and started playing around. And before long, I was making my own fractals. I'm still pretty new at making fractals, but it's so much fun. I spent two whole days/nights not doing anything but making fractals. I put some of my favorites that I made in Chaoscope in my gallery. I hope you enjoy them. I still have no idea how to use Apophysis though. :)

Don't let my name fool you. I'm not actually an evil warlord that wants you to obey me. I'm actually a corrupt Politician. :XD:

If you are taking me too seriously, take these pills. They will make you feel better.
